I watched TV yesterday, nothing special, was just a “let’s sit down in a dark set having some intimate conversation with a couple of big brains” kinda show. The hostess was a young women, very enthusiastic, the guests were an older author if I remember right and a psychotherapist women.
As the show went on, I started to realize that the uber-polite behavior of the author — which I first found automatically very nice and appealing — seemed to get a bit out of control, and even went so far, that he once corrected the young hostess, about how she should ask the question, to be more polite…
So, as a conclusion here my question:
Isn’t it impolite to be a smart-ass about politeness
and tell others how impolite they are?
And now back to work, cause we all have more important things to take care about, I guess…
Your thoughts are welcome!

I always correct people who correct others in public. It is humiliating. During my brief period as an education major, we were taught not to publicly repremand anyone because it will not encourage them to correct the behavior. It will only humiliate them. I have never taken an etiquette class so I have never been explained if it is proper to correct other’s etiquette. I just hate watching people being pedantic at the expense of someone else’s self-worth. So I always have to tell them that they are rude. Humans can’t always be perfect.
I could see how that could kill a perfectly good conversation for you.
