Yay, it’s finally here. After a few weeks - well, probably few months, or so… - of designing Svenigson™, it’s arrived in browsers near you.
Well, long ago as a kid I thought I could design websites I first saw - at the age of 14 in the school back in 1996 - better than they were. I didn’t had internet connection at home, only at school, so what to do in such cases in 1996? Yes, download the websites to a floppy and “analyze” them at home, how and why they worked. So long story short, as in many cases with the enthusiasm for websites and graphical interfaces came the true love for typography. One of the first fonts I used a lot back then was Sveningsson, designed by Derek Gomez. So I thought a couple years ago I choose a name I can easily relate with and I formed it a little to fit my taste.
The same old story but now with a different ending
If you are a designer and a workaholimalist maxiholic (self made definition of a maximalist workaholic, supposed to be a kind of joke...) , or have any profession where you Create, you probably already know this from day #1: Nothing is ever good enough to present YOU as a product, because you can present products so many totally different ways. Client works are not so hard because there is a time frame and a simple goal defined, make that appearance to sell that product whatever it might be, but if YOU are the product as the “creator of communication style” and as an extra damn, time plays no role in the game, now thats where things becomes tricky. It becomes a process of a lifetime to design your “my personal” portfolio, blog, or even business card. I bet my car that every designer’s hard disk hides a 200 layer psd file somewhere deep in itself waiting to evolve and become a real project.
Well, in my case it was the same, until I red this on a cloudy afternoon a couple weeks before:
Now. Make something happen today, before you go home,
before the end of the week. Launch that idea, post that post, run that ad,
call that customer. Go the edge, that edge you’ve been holding back from…
and do it today. Without waiting for the committee or your boss or the market.
Just go.
I must say, I’m not a fan of big speeches in general, but this couple lines sticked in my mind, simple inspired me, and made me think, maybe I should finally code my 200 layer psd to a real website.
Well, done, hope You enjoy.
Index page ↑ One (the latest) featured entry, the 8 most recent entries, the link to archives, some “about me” lead in and link to the about section and tons of tiny stats.
Entry ↑ Artwork for the entry and the lead in, content, images, links, commenting and of course tons of tiny stats.
Archives ↑ Well, one of my favorite. Tons of stats and listings showing entries sorted in some different aspects. There is the category structure, the common time line, but there is a entry ranking too, which lists the entries according to user click rates. The most recent and commented entries are also highlighted. Perfect place to waste time!
About ↑ It’s a painfully must-have. I thought it, as any of You out there, but then I got into it, and started to have fun. Hopefully You can see this on the outcome. I’m truly proud of it!
Your thoughts are welcome!

Nice, the evolution of ideas/website design/layout/function is a long path...one that never truly finishes. Just find something your passionate about, i.e I was a hardcore gamer and felt the need for a meeting place for those with similar mindsets. I think your site stands out from the crowd.
